President's Message

The Love You Take Is

Equal to the Love You Make

This prophetic line from the Beatles song “The End” from Abbey Road speaks volumes to many aspects of life, relationships, and in our case chiropractic.  Yes, it is possible to relate just about every Beatles song to something in chiropractic, except maybe Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  But “The End” should have special significance to us as a profession.

As a profession, a pitiful percentage of doctors belong to state or national associations.  The most common reason you hear is, “what does belonging to that association do for me?”  While I could spend volumes touting the benefits that chiropractors get by belonging to the GCC or any organization, the bigger premise here is that you will only get out what you put in.

Just like the Beatles song suggests, you can only “take” an equal amount of what you “make”.  If you show up in your practice, pay rent, pay your fees, and then wait to get a flood of new patients, well we all know how that turns out.  But on the other hand, if you add the extra effort of outreach, education, focus, purpose and procedures, you will have a growing thriving practice.  There is a reason that this principle is called the “Law of Exchange”.  It is a law!

By not belonging, and also complaining, all you are ever going to get back is the same negativity you brought to that discussion.  But if you join, looking to contribute, the rewards are not only equal, but as I understand it, at least seven fold.

I have been involved in chiropractic organizations my entire professional, and student life. I can tell you the rewards for being involved far outweighed the costs.  I cannot even conceive the mindset of not being a member, none-the-less not being involved.

So to all those who may be reading this, and are not members of the GCC, or maybe any organization, I can say to you that you are cheating yourself.  By not jumping in you are not only missing a great swim, but you are also missing being bathed in the blessings of being involved.

You want to get additional new patients next week? You want your practice to grow? Join GCC.  Even before you attend a single GCC program, the very act of joining will trigger the law and you WILL see growth.  If you have to ask, “How that is possible”, I might suggest that you stop thinking about it and take a leap of faith.  It does work!

The Beatles were not the first, and far from the only ones to clearly state the law of exchange. They were just the coolest, who did it in a song that I cannot get out of my head.  Oh well, “And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make.”

Opportunity to Help Missionaries

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is reaching out to Chiropractors across the world interested in treating missionaries who experience health problems during their service. Currently the church has over 65,000 full-time missionaries serving. The LDS Church is looking for Chiropractors who would be interested in treating these individuals during their service. Full-time missionaries serve a period of time between 1.5-2years and many serve outside of their home state or country. Traditional health care has been the only option for missionaries through the church’s mission medical program but there is now interest in Chiropractic care as an additional option of care.

Go to ldschiro.com to register your name and practice. You may choose on the form whether or not to receive compensation from the church for your services. Upon approval your practice will be placed on the web page as an option for missionaries seeking Chiropractic care for their health problems.
